Out & About On Campus

  • There is a polling station located on Keele campus for those eligible to vote in the Humber River-Black Creek riding for the Federal Election. If you are voting in the this riding and your polling station is listed as "York University Student Centre" on your voter information card and/or the Elections Canada website, please note that the polling station will be located in 109 Second Student Centre (15 Library Lane). It will be open on Monday, October 21, from 9:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. For more details on voting, please visit the link above.

  • York is embarking on a Classroom Renewal Project and they are looking for your input. Complete the survey at the link above and help contribute to a project that aims to revise, renew and refresh classrooms to standards informed by you, our students. Have your say on upgrades to physical facilities, installation of standardized audiovisual and IT equipment, design modifications and accessibility enhancements for the York community.

    Glendon students: The Consultants for this project will be in the Glendon COE lobby on Monday, October 21 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. with design boards for your input and comments.

Veuillez remplir le sondage à partir du lien ci-dessus et contribuer ainsi à un projet visant à revoir, renouveler et moderniser des salles de classe reliées à un système de réservation centralisée. Grâce à ce sondage, vous – nos étudiants – contribuerez à définir de nouvelles normes.   • Community Safety would like to invite you to join them in celebrating Community Safety Week. Learn about safety operations and go behind-the-scenes during Community Safety Department’s Open House on Monday, October 21, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., William Small Centre. There will also be two tabling sessions. Keele: Tuesday, October 22, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Vari Hall. Glendon: Wednesday, October 23, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Glendon Campus Cafeteria.

York Pride

  • Red & White Day is Wednesday, October 23! Join the community to celebrate #YUSpirit and the University’s sixtieth anniversary. There will be games, food trucks, giveaways and bookstore deals at both the Keele and Glendon campuses. You can also show your York pride by entering the Red & White Day Photo Contest. Submit a picture between Monday, October 14 and Friday, October 25 that includes the hashtag #YUSpirit to win a $75 YU Card.

  • For the very first time, we are celebrating the 12,000 first generation students at York on First Generation Day this Wednesday, October 23 with two events: a tabling in Vari Hall from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. during the Red & White Day festivities, as well as the First Generation Network Launch from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.

  • The Becoming YU Off-Campus Program. Do you volunteer, coach, tutor or work at a part-time job off-campus?   • Info Session: How to Prepare for Grad Studies at York. Are you an undergraduate student interested in pursuing a graduate degree in the future? Learn about all of York’s different graduate studies opportunities, the best ways to prepare while you’re pursuing your undergrad, as well as the ins and outs of the application process!   • Panel for Graduate Students: Publishing in Open Access. Considering your options for publishing in open access in the humanities or social sciences? International Connections

  • Interested in going on exchange, spending a summer studying abroad or doing an internship abroad? Learn more at an Information Session, hosted by York International. Register for an on-campus session and get all the information you need to start planning your next adventure! All sessions are in 242 York Lanes.

  • Las Nubes Information Session. Learn about York’s EcoCampus in Costa Rica and the courses you can take there. Here you’ll have the opportunity to meet some of your instructors and ask them course-related questions as well as discuss costs and requirements. Careers Support

  • Career Conversations in Statistics and Data Science. Connect with professionals currently enjoying their careers and get the inside scoop on what it's really like to work in this field. During this panel, professionals will share their stories about breaking into the field, how their career paths took them from graduation to where they are now, what knowledge, skills and experience helped them succeed in their jobs and what types of opportunities are available. Athletics & Recreation

  • Show your #HeartOfALion and Rock Your Red for Super Saturday this Saturday, October 26! The first 100 fans receive a York Lions rally towel, and don’t miss your chance to win a $50 Pride Shop gift card! There will be food trucks, lots of other prizes and much more.

    This huge day for York U Varsity Sports kicks off with the women’s and men’s volleyball teams home openers against the Queen’s Golden Gaels at noon and 2 p.m., respectively, at the Tait Mackenzie Centre.

    The day continues with the women’s and men’s basketball teams’ home openers against the Algoma Thunderbirds at 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. in the Tait McKenzie Centre.

    Meanwhile, the women’s hockey team will also be facing off against the Queen’s Golden Gaels at 7 p.m. at Canlan Ice Sports.

Health & Wellness

  • Mindful Meditation Workshop. Everyone is welcome to join Scott Pope, from Student Counselling and Development (SCD) at York, will be providing 45-minute meditation drop-in sessions every Tuesday. Tuesday, October 22, 9:30 a.m. ​to 10:15 a.m. Atkinson Centre for Mature and Part-Time Students.

  • Let your voice be heard! Throughout this month and November, approximately 59,000 undergraduate and graduate students will receive an invitation to take part in StudentMoveTO – Canada’s largest study on student transportation.

  • Announcement: Canada Post is returning to Keele Campus. A Canada Post parcel pickup location has opened in York Lanes across from the Bookstore for incoming parcels only and the sale of stamps. Pickup hours are Monday to Friday, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. To mail letters, use the letterboxes on campus, and for other services, there is a complimentary shuttle from the Atkinson Road parking lot to the Downsview Post Office on Wednesdays at 2 p.m.

  • New podcasts with Grad Life! Plug into the official podcast of the Faculty of Graduate Studies and listen to the newest episode: “Good Morning Ethiopia.” Grad Life features interviews with the faculty, staff and students involved in York U’s interdisciplinary graduate programs. Available through iTunes, Spotify, Stitcher and Soundcloud.

  • Transportation Discount: Apply online for the GO Transit Student Identification Card! You can choose to have the card mailed to you or you can pick it up:

    • Keele students, pick up from the Parking & Transportation Office at the William Small Centre.
    • Glendon Students, pick up from the Parking & Transportation Office at the Glendon Greenhouse.

    Please note that this GO Transit Student Identification Card is only available for full-time enrolled and registered students.

  • Announcement: Effective January 2019 Canada Revenue Agency replaced the T2202A form with a new T2202 form that requires York University to include your Social Insurance Number (SIN) on your form. Please ensure you have provided your SIN in your Student Personal Information record by February 1, 2020.

  • Announcement: The OPP is partnering with universities and colleges across the province to raise awareness of the Good Samaritan Drug Overdose Act (GSDOA). The GSDOA was signed into federal law in May 2017 to provide some legal protection for individuals who call 9-1-1 to get help for themselves or someone else suffering from an overdose.
