  • Consent Week at York U. Join The Centre for Sexual Violence Response, Support & Education as they raise awareness about consent during Consent Week at York U from October 7 to 11. Attend workshops, guest lectures and training happening at both Keele & Glendon campuses for students, staff and faculty. Free promos from The Centre at the Upper Bear Pit, Keele Campus.

  • Committed to fostering an accessible, inclusive environment for sexual and gender diversity at YU? Join the SexGen Committee! SexGen York is currently seeking students, staff and faculty to join the committee for the 2019/2020 and 2020/2021 academic years. Complete their expression of interest form by Monday, October 21. SexGen engages in advocacy, education campaigns, supports campus services for gender and sexual diversity and organizes community-building events surrounding Trans Day of Remembrance and Pride.

  • Lecture: Well-Being: the Key to Student Success. Hosted by McLaughlin College, this lecture will provide an overview of the importance of making well-being a high priority and how it relates to your physical health, mental health and personal success. Tuesday, October 8, noon to 1:30 p.m. 140 McLaughlin College (Senior Common Room).

Out & About On Campus

  • Let your voice be heard! Throughout this month and November, approximately 59,000 undergraduate and graduate students will receive an invitation to take part in StudentMoveTO – Canada’s largest study on student transportation.

  • Meet candidates running in the upcoming federal election in a meet-and-greet in Central Square on Keele Campus and the Centre of Excellence on Glendon Campus on Tuesday, October 8, 2019 from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. ahead of the election on Monday, October 21.

  • Announcement: Canada Post is returning to Keele Campus. A Canada Post parcel pickup location has opened in York Lanes across from the Bookstore for incoming parcels only and the sale of stamps. Pickup hours are Monday to Friday, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. For other services, there is a complimentary shuttle from the Atkinson Road parking lot to the Downsview Post Office on Wednesdays at 2 p.m.

York Pride

  • Join York’s senior leadership for a Town Hall on Thursday, October 10. This is an opportunity for York students, staff and faculty to discuss our community’s priorities and our plans for York’s future. RSVP on the Town Hall website and let us know if you have any questions you would like answered. If you are unable to attend in person, you can participate online through a livestream.

  • Red & White Day is Wednesday, October 23! A chance to celebrate our community’s #YUSpirit and the University’s sixtieth anniversary, there will be games, food trucks, giveaways and bookstore deals at both the Keele and Glendon campuses. You can also show your York pride by entering the Red & White Day Photo Contest. Submit a picture between Monday, October 14 and Friday, October 25 that includes the hashtag #YUSpirit to win a $75 YU Card.

Join the Career Centre during this week-long series featuring career panels with alumni guest speakers, hands-on workshops and presentations.

  • Transportation Discount: Apply online for the GO Transit Student Identification Card! You can choose to have the card mailed to you or you can pick it up:

    • Keele students, pick up from the Parking & Transportation Office at the William Small Centre.
    • Glendon Students, pick up from the Parking & Transportation Office at the Glendon Greenhouse.

    Please note that this GO Transit Student Identification Card is only available for full-time enrolled and registered students.

  • Announcement: Effective January 2019 Canada Revenue Agency replaced the T2202A form with a new T2202 form that requires York University to include your Social Insurance Number (SIN) on your form. Please ensure you have provided your SIN in your Student Personal Information record by February 1, 2020.

  • Announcement: The OPP is partnering with universities and colleges across the province to raise awareness of the Good Samaritan Drug Overdose Act (GSDOA). The GSDOA was signed into federal law in May 2017 to provide some legal protection for individuals who call 9-1-1 to get help for themselves or someone else suffering from an overdose.
