Important Dates

  • York Orientation Day is Tuesday, September 3.

  • The First Day of Classes is Wednesday, September 4.

  • Fees due for Fall and Year course enrolments and program-based undergraduate programs is Tuesday, September 10.

  • First half of residence and meal plan fees are due Tuesday, September 10.

  • Last date to add a course without permission of instructor is Saturday, September 17.

  • Fall/Winter 2019-2020 course and program fees, which will be impacted by the provincial government’s Student Choice Initiative, are available on the Student Financial Services’ Fees webpage. The Non-Essential Supplementary Fee Opt-Out Form is now available. Visit the Student Choice Initiative website for details and a link to the form. The deadline to Opt-Out is Wednesday, September 18.

Welcome Back

  • Visit York’s new Back-to-School website to access back-to-school resources and learn about events to help ease the transition into the 2019-2020 academic year. The resources are organized by year of study on the site, so you can find the perfect resources and supports that fit your needs as you start the year!

    After you’ve checked that out, you can read up on all sorts of York U tips and tricks on the #YUBlog! Helpful topics include: a guide to online registrarial services, tips for international students, tips for residence, using the Visual Schedule Builder and much more.

  • York University’s Orientation Week runs from Saturday, August 31 to Sunday, September 8 with one of the highly anticipated events being York Orientation Day – a full-day event on Tuesday, September 3 where students connect with peers and faculty in their program, explore the campus and attend the welcome ceremony in the York Lions Stadium at Keele Campus.

    If you are a Glendon student, Glendon Orientation Day is also on Tuesday, September 3. Glendon students will join the festivities on Keele Campus for the official York University Welcome Ceremony.

  • Connect with your college to find where you start you day on Tuesday, September 3 and continue to check throughout the year to see if there are any events that can connect you to other students. Community support helps during stressful times! You may find some college-specific events to join, including academic workshops and social events.

  • York International (YI) is offering three international student orientation sessions this Fall. As the designated support office for international students, YI offers crucial services and programs tailored to address the unique needs of international students. This orientation gives you a chance to meet your international student peers, learn essential information about immigration issues, health insurance, working in Canada and much more. First Session: Friday, August 30, Noon to 4 p.m., Curtis Lecture Hall I (CLH I). For registration and information on sessions next week, visit the York International Orientation Page.

York Pride

  • Show your #YUSpirit on Heart of a Lion Day! This second annual event is an opportunity to celebrate what it means to be a York Lion! The event will feature free York Lions t-shirts for the first 200 attendees, two free York9 Football Club tickets for the first 100 attendees, a Welcome fitness demo, a new fall merchandise fashion show, raffle prizes, Pride Shop discounts, free tickets to York’s Football Season Opener and best of all, free ice cream for everyone! Health & Wellness

  • Effective Sunday, September 1, the University’s partnership with WellTrack® will come to an end, but we encourage you to check out the following alternatives to support a mentally healthy campus:

    • Big White Wall, a free online mental health and wellbeing service offering self-guided programs and creative outlets that includes a space to express, connect, learn and remain anonymous; or
    • BounceBack Ontario, offers a free skill-building program that offers two forms of support: online videos; and telephone coaching sessions with guided workbooks.

Learning Skills

  • Attend Learning Skills Workshops designed to help you accomplish goals and navigate through your academic career. Starting Monday, September 9, workshops will be held at the Sound & Moving Images Library (SMIL) on the ground floor of Scott Library and are open to all York students; registration is not required.

Student Support Services

  • It’s never been easier for you to get your student records in order ahead of the new term with My Online Services! The site links you to the many self-serve options available, including enrolment letters, transcripts and your student financial account so that students can get what they need, when they need it, from wherever they are almost any time of the day. 

  • Can’t find your first class? The ASK Me program continues this Fall and will feature booths around campus run by the ASK Me ambassador team who will provide on-the-spot guidance and directions and answer general questions about financial aid, registrarial services, course enrolment and more. Feel like you could help the team? Returning students can also volunteer to be an ASK Me ambassador!

  • Access support and resources offered by Student Counselling & Development Services at Keele Campus and The Accessibility, Well-Being & Counselling Centre at Glendon Campus.
