Announcement

  • York University is committed to providing a proactive approach in communicating to the York community concerning the 2019 Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19). All York community members will receive an e-mail reminder when the University has posted a community update on the Coronavirus Information and Update website. This website is the central source for up-to-date York community information, with links to expert health agencies, organizations and resources as well as a list of FAQs.

Important Dates

  • The last date to drop a course without receiving a grade for a W course is Friday, March 13.

  • The Course Withdrawal Period runs from Saturday, March 14 to Sunday, April 5.

Out & About On Campus

  • Community Open Forum on the Next University Academic Plan (UAP). Join other students and the rest of the York community and participate in this academic planning forum scheduled at this critical stage in the development of the University Academic Plan 2020-2025.  Be prepared to share reflections on the draft UAP and to engage in critical discourse with other members of the community.   • NSSE is here and the results for the NSSE Champion Cup keep rolling in! Schulich remains in first place, while Glendon and the Faculty of Science are in a tight race for second. Are you in first- or fourth-year? Visit the NSSE website to see if you are eligible to participate and win a free latte and a chance to win a $500 tuition waiver!

  • Employment Opportunity: Student Community & Leadership Development is hiring for Summer 2020 and Fall/Winter 2020-21 work/study positions!   • Guest Speaker: The Hero Mindset with Kevin Rempel. 2013 World Champion and 2014 Sochi Paralympic bronze medalist in sledge hockey, Kevin Rempel, overcame a tremendous amount of adversity after becoming paralyzed in a motocross crash in 2006. Come hear his story about his personal hardships and how he came to foster the Hero Mindset. Tuesday, March 3, 2:30 p.m. 152 Founders College. Registration required at the link above.

  • Complete York U’s Sustainability Strategy survey and help influence our continuing efforts to foster a culture of sustainability within and beyond the University. Your valuable input will inform how we move forward towards reducing York’s carbon footprint and to create a more sustainable future at York University. Feedback deadline: Thursday, March 13.

  • Shades of Our Sisters. Experience an interactive exhibit co-created by the families of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, Trans, and Two Spirit People (MMIWGT2S), aiming to share the memory of their loved ones and what the loss of their life means to them. Open from Monday, March 9 to Friday, March 13 at the 2nd Floor Scott Library Atrium.

  • Maclean’s Student Survey 2020Your opinions and experiences will help inform Maclean’s 30th annual University Rankings and let future students know more about York U. The survey is confidential. Complete the survey and you could win a $500 VISA gift card.

International Connections

  • ISAY Grand Gala. Join the International Students' Association at York (ISAY) for a fun night celebrating the international student community at York. Student Support Services

  • AMPD, Glendon and Lassonde students. You now have access to the Student Virtual Assistant. Interact with the tool, ask questions and help train it to provide better, more targeted answers. Chat with the virtual assistant on your Moodle/eClass page. Learn more about the tool here.

York Pride

  • Call for Undergraduate Student Nominations to the Board of Governors. The Student Senator Caucus (SSC) oversees nominations for student members for the Board of Governors and makes a recommendation to them based upon the election results. The election of student governors rotates annually between undergraduate and graduate/professional students. This year, the SSC is accepting nominations for undergraduate student nominees. Follow the link above for more details. Nomination Deadline: Friday, March 6, noon.

  • Do you know a York student actively engaged in student governance, whose efforts and contributions are making a difference at the University? The Robert Everett Exceptional Leadership in Student Governance Award recognizes and celebrates these students and their impact on governance at York. Nomination Deadline: Friday, March 13, 2020. Submissions must be completed online at the link above.

Health & Wellness

  • York 's 3rd Annual "Transgathering". Be a part of this event hosted by The Centre for Sexual Violence Response, Support & Education and Student Counselling & Development, as they create a safe, non-judgmental space to express, explore, exchange and connect with other trans and non-binary students at York. The drop-in event will feature guest speaker Jay Jonah, a York alumni and trans-identifying Registered Social Worker. Wednesday, March 11, 2:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., N110 Bennett Centre.

  • The results from the “Student Voices on Sexual Violence Survey” have recently been released to the University and are available on the Ontario’s Universities website. The survey is an important instrument to review as it provides critical feedback from York students. York is committed to supporting our community and to continuously assessing and improving our efforts to end sexual harassment and violence.
