Ignat Kaneff was born in Bulgaria and at age 14 left for Austria before immigrating to Canada at age 24. Soon thereafter, he founded the Kaneff Group of Companies, a greater Peel region-based real estate development and construction company. The Ignat Kaneff Scholarship for Academic Excellence was established by his family in honour of his 80th birthday to commemorate his strong dedication to his community and his commitment to promoting equal opportunities through higher education among Canadians.
This Scholarship will be awarded to an entering JD student who has record of academic excellence in her or his undergraduate studies. The recipient must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, protected person, an Ontario resident and demonstrate financial need.
