Description
The York University Automatic Entrance Scholarships are awarded to secondary school students applying to a direct-entry undergraduate program who are Canadian citizens, permanent residents or protected persons and have completed their secondary school diploma with high academic standing. Scholarship values are as follows: 95% and higher = $4000; 90 - 94.9% = $2500; 85% - 89.9% = $1500; and 80% - 84.9% = $1000.
This scholarship is renewable and regainable for all recipients effective for FW22 and onwards. In order to renew, recipients must maintain a minimum 8.00 sessional grade point average and enroll in a minimum of 24 credits for their first Fall/Winter academic year to qualify for the second year renewal. Thereafter, the renewal will be based on a minimum 8.00 grade point average on all credits completed in the previous summer and fall/winter sessions (i.e. for Fall/Winter 2021-2022, the terms considered will Summer 2020 and Fall/Winter 2020-2021). Recipients who are students with disabilities may renew this scholarship by maintaining a min 8.00 GPA over a minimum 40% course load (6 credits per term). Students must self-identify and show proof of disability at the first time of renewal. A conditional scholarship offer will be made at the time of admission. The final scholarship amount will be determined when final grades are received.
Application Process
No application is required. Students will be considered based on their final admissions average (final grades including prerequisites). In order to renew, recipients must maintain a minimum 8.00 sessional grade point average and enrol in a minimum of 24 credits each year taken during the entire academic year (previous summer and fall/winter sessions) to be eligible for renewal. It should be noted that the gpa calculation for renewal will be based on all credits completed during the applicable period. Recipients who are students with disabilities may renew this scholarship by maintaining a min 8.00 GPA over a minimum 40% course load (6 credits per term). Students must self-identify and show proof of disability at the first time of renewal. For students starting at York in January, the student must maintain a min of 8.0 GPA over a min of 12 credits during the winter term to be eligible to renew the following September.
