Take a few moments to search for awards you may be eligible for: you can search by Faculty, award type, activity level or type in the name of an award that you may be familiar with. Unless otherwise stated, all full-time, part-time and mature students are eligible for all the awards in the system so long as they meet the published criteria.

Dr. Ferdinand and Mrs. Emelda Thomas Entrance Award

Description
This award will be given to a student who is a graduate of a school that has participated in the York University Westview Partnership (Westview Centennial Secondary School, C.W. Jeffrey's Collegiate Institute, Emery Collegiate Institute, James Cardinal McGuigan and North Albion Collegiate). To be considered, applicants must: i) be first generation Canadian (i.e. parents born in a country other than Canada); ii) be entering a direct-entry undergraduate program with a minimum admission average of 75% (or equivalent); AND iii) have made contributions to student life by volunteering in their secondary school or community. The recipient must also be a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident or protected person, a resident of Ontario and demonstrate financial need.
Application Process
To apply, submit the scholarships and bursaries application available through http://www.yorku.ca/myfile. Applicants must select this award from the list available and complete the extracurricular activities and community service sections. Applicants must also include a personal statement on the SFP confirming that they are a first generation Canadian and outlining their volunteer contribution(s) to student and/or community life.
